Terminal Distributor (TDDD) REMOTE DISPENSING PHARMACIES

Effective April 6, 2026 the Board of Pharmacy implemented rules on remote dispensing pharmacies, where pharmacy services are provided remotely through a telepharmacy system. To view the rules in full, click on the links below.

Remote dispensing pharmacies are required to apply for and obtain a terminal distributor of dangerous drugs (TDDD) license with a remote dispensing classification. To apply for this license, begin a “Terminal – Pharmacy” license in eLicense Ohio. On the application, you will be asked to select the type of business model that describes the proposed operations; please select “Remote Dispensing” and attach the Remote Dispensing Pharmacy Request Form to your application.

NOTE: Per Ohio law and rule, a remote dispensing pharmacy cannot be located within a ten-mile radius of a pharmacy serving the public as an outpatient pharmacy, as noted on the Ohio Pharmacy Access Dashboard. The Board may waive this requirement if the applicant is able to demonstrate the need for a remote dispensing pharmacy using the criteria in OAC 4729:5-18-03. To view the dashboard, click here and go to the Pharmacy Deserts tab. For more detailed instructions on reading the map, review the Remote Dispensing Pharmacy Guidance Document.
